10 Tips to Protect Your Feet When Dancing at Rhode Island Dolls

protect-your-feetExotic dancers spend a lot of time on their feet. In fact, your job as a dancer at Rhode Island Dolls depends on how well you take care of your feet. If you’re in constant pain or if you hurt your feet, you won’t be able to do your job as well, or maybe not at all. If you want to be able to dance well and put on a great show, you need to make sure that your feet are well taken care of. It’s critical to exercise proper foot care and there are some things that strippers can do to make sure that they can dance for as long as they want to.

Shoes
One of the most important things you can do to protect your feet is to choose good shoes. Not just sexy shoes. Yes, sexy is important but you have to have shoes that won’t kill your feet, too.

You can start by making sure that your shoes fit properly. When you go to buy a new pair of shoes, go somewhere where they will measure your feet to make sure that you get the right fit. Your feet change over time (especially when you work on your feet for a living) so don’t just assume that because a size 7 fit well last time that it will be the right fit this time, too. If your shoe is not the right size you can easily end up with foot pain that might end up making you take time off of work. Or at the very least, it can cause a lot of pain that will be reflected in your dancing.

Besides size, you have control over the type of shoes that you buy. Yes, you’re definitely going to want to pick out a high heeled shoe. But you don’t have to go with the standard stiletto heel. In fact, you should avoid that if at all possible. Platform heels are just as sexy as stilettos and they are much better for your feet. The gap between the heel and the toe of a stiletto shoes doesn’t give you enough support in the arches. A platform heel gives you more support and still gives the desired of effect of longer legs and a sexy figure.

Buy new shoes often and rotate your shoes. During your main act on stage, you are likely to want to wear a higher heel but when you get off the stage and are doing private dances you can change shoes and put on something that gives your feet a bit of a rest. You might still want to wear high heels but you can choose something with a lower heel than the ones you use to perform on stage in. And you should make sure that your shoes aren’t over worn. Most shoes have a life span and if you’ve gone past the life span of your shoes you’re not doing your feet any good. Replace your shoes every couple months.

Exercises
Before you go on stage, make sure to stretch out your feet. Your feet have muscles in them, just like every other part of your body. Use foot stretching exercises to warm up the muscles and relax them so that you are less likely to injure yourself.

You can do some cooling off exercises later in the evening, too.

Ice
Ice reduces swelling so it is a good idea to keep ice packs in the freezer at the club. Apply ice packs throughout the evening to make sure that your feet don’t get swollen. You’ll feel a lot better, too. That ice feels amazing on your feet when they’ve been in a pair of high heeled shoes for a couple hours.

Water
Drinking water when you’re active is always a good idea but it’s good for your feet, too. When you don’t drink enough water you’re likely to get dehydrated and one of the side effects of dehydration can be swollen feet. It’s not fun to have to give a private dance when your feet are swollen up!

Take Breaks
Finally, make sure that you are not overworking yourself. Your body can only handle so much. Take a couple days off a week and when you have time, take off longer periods. Make sure that when you aren’t working, you don’t spend too much time on your feet. Give them some time to rest and recuperate so that when you return to Rhode Island Dolls gentleman’s club you’ll be ready to get back to work!
