Keep Your Summer Cool When You Are A Dancer At RI Dolls
Summer is all about the heat. This is great when you are sunning yourself on a beach but not so great when you are a stripper at RI Dolls in Woonsocket, Rhode Island! Sure, there is air conditioning but when you’re working it on the stage that only helps so much. Customers don’t want to freeze to death when they are watching you do your routine so the air conditioning can only get turned up so high.
So, what can you do to keep your cool when you’re dancing up a storm on the stage at Rhode Island Dolls? Here are a few tips.
#1 Drink Lots Of Water
Make sure that you keep your water intake high on the days that you’re working, both before you get on the stage and while you are working. It’s super easy to get dehydrated in the summer when you are working out for hours at a time. Avoid alcohol and caffeine because both of them will dehydrate you. If you’re not really into water, you still need to stay hydrated so try something different. You can drink decaffeinated teas (hot or cold). You can add fruit to your water to make it taste better. You can even buy flavored water. But drink lots of water, no matter what!
#2 Get Wet
Ok, there’s not a pool handy when you’re dancing at the club but there are other ways that you can use water to stay cool. You can make wet hair a part of your routine. Who doesn’t think that wet hair and wet skin when combined with a dance routine is not hot? Think about that sexy scene in Flashdance when she poured water all over herself. Even bring a spray bottle up on the stage with you and make it part of your act. This will help you cool off a lot.
When you’re off the stage you can run cold water over your hands and feet to cool off. This can decrease your body temperature for up to an hour. It can also help to decrease swelling if the heat is getting to be too much for your tired limbs.
You can keep a spray bottle in the dressing room to cool you off between sets, too. In this bottle, add a little bit of peppermint essential oil. It’s a naturally cooling essential oil so it will help keep you cooler longer.
#3 Wear Your Hair Up Or Get It Cut Short
You may not like the idea of getting your hair cut short but there are lots of women who swear by their short hair cut in the summer. And if you really like it long you can wear it in various up styles that will help keep the hair off your neck. Check out some of the awesome ways you can wear your hair up. It’s definitely a sexy look if you leave just a few strands hanging loose.
Oh, and absolutely ditch the wigs and hair pieces for the summer. No matter how much you might like them, they will keep all the heat trapped in your body and that’s not good for you when it’s already hot outside.
#4 Eat Light, Eat Frozen
You probably don’t eat a lot of food when you have to dance up a storm but you do have to keep your energy up by eating something. Try eating frozen fruit between your sets. It will give you natural sugars that will keep your energy levels high and it will also cool you off. Strawberries, grapes, cherry tomatoes, pineapple, mango, papya and other fruits freeze well and taste awesome. And if you don’t have time to eat, pop a few pieces of frozen fruit in your water bottle for a tasty, hydrating treat.
#5 Rest
Finally, don’t push it too hard by doing set after set after set in the summer. Give yourself time to rest and cool off naturally. You might take this time to check out the floor and see who the guys are with the money or you might take a break near the air conditioning. But make sure that you don’t go too hard in the summer. Everyone needs a break and that includes you.
Keeping cool is important in the summer. When you’re working that hard, dancing on the stage, you have to make sure that you are hydrated well. Not being hydrated in the summer can lead to fainting and that’s not a sexy move on the stage!
