Ways For RI Dolls Dancer To Be The Center Of Attention On The Stage
If you can’t keep all the attention on you when you’re on the stage, you know that you’re not making as much money as you could be. If people are busy chatting and laughing and otherwise not focused on you, they have no reason to spend their hard earned buck on you. You’re not doing your job.
But, if the room gets quiet when you’re shaking your money maker on the stage, you know you’ve got their attention. They’ve forgotten about anyone else that might be sitting at the table and they aren’t worried about who might be talking to them because everyone is looking at you. And that means you’re going to make some big bucks.
What can you do to make sure that when you get on the stage, you’re the only one in the room that’s getting attention? Start with these tips:
#1 Know You Are The Shit
If you aren’t confident in yourself and truly believe that you are the best thing in the room, no one else is going to think that. How you think of yourself plays a big part in what other people think about you. When you get on the stage, you have to know that you’re worth watching. You have to believe that everyone is privileged to be able to watch you dance. Don’t waste time learning new moves on the stage. Save new dance steps for when you’ve spent lots of time practicing. Give the stage only your best. This will help you be more confident in what you are doing and your audience will feel it and give you all of their attention.
#2 Always Look Like A Winner
If you come to work looking like you just got out of bed and forgot to brush your hair, customers will see it. They don’t want to see that. It ruins their fantasy. They want to believe that you always look perfect, you’re always prepared to put on a show, and you’re the fantasy they crave. They do not want to know that you’re human. Of course, you are, but your audience doesn’t need to know that.
Do your makeup. Keep your skin supple and smooth. Always have your hair “just done.” And every single article of clothing you put on your body should fit like a glove. From the time you walk into the club to the time you leave, you need to look like a winner.
#3 Always Move Like A Dancer
Even before you get on the stage you need to move like a dancer. If you want all eyes to be on you when you’re on the stage doing your thing, you need to make sure that you’re moving like a dancer on your way there and on your way off the stage, too.
Once you’re performing on the stage, make sure that you know exactly what you’re doing. This is not the time to wing it! You should be prepared, have your routines memorized, and know your moves so well you could do them in your sleep.
It’s great to learn new moves to keep your audience engaged and interested but you should have them down pat before you ever let them see the light of day (or the lights of the club!). Practice, practice, practice before revealing something new.
Finally, just learn to move more gracefully. Take a yoga class or a ballet class. Study the art of movement and you’ll find that everything you do on the stage gets a lot easier.
#4Be Positive
No one likes to watch a dancer that looks like she hates her job. It’s important to at least appear to really enjoy being on stage. If you’re frowning, sulking or looking like you’re just not having a good time, people simply won’t enjoy watching you. Keep a smile on your face. Make eye contact with your audience. Enjoy your time up there. Get lost in the music.
If you really do hate what you’re doing and dislike being on stage, it’s important that you can find at least some aspect that you love about it. If you absolutely can’t find anything to enjoy, you might be better off with another type of job. People will know if you’re faking it so make every attempt to show that you are getting some kind of pleasure from performing for your clients.
The best dancers have a great stage presence. They are confident and look like they love their job. They interact well with the audience and they know how to move to create the best visual appearance. Spend some time thinking about and working on your stage presence and you’ll find that all the eyes in the room will be on you when you hit the stage.
