Why Dancing at Rhode Island Dolls Night Club Is a “Real” Job
Many women decide to start dancing at a night club for a variety of reasons. For some women, it is the best way for them to get through school, as they are able to pay out of pocket and avoid loans. Other women are able to make up the difference in their financial aid in order to attend classes. Some women support their families by dancing at clubs, since the hours can be perfect for a woman who has children. A lot of dancers are able to be home with their children all day and work at night while their children are with a babysitter. Still others simply enjoy the challenge of dancing.
There are some people who see dancers as women who are lost souls that are being taken advantage of while others see the women as having too good of a time. It can be difficult for you as a dancer to make someone else understand that dancing is not just something done for fun. It is a real job that pays real money and is just as challenging as many other professions.
You have to be a saleswoman when you are a dancer. Just like a salesperson who works at a clothing store or on a car lot, a dancer is looking for the customers who have the potential to spend the most. You have to learn how to identify those customers and then you have to learn how to win them over. Some men who go to a club are there to watch the girls dance. Others are there because they need someone to pay attention to them. In fact, many times a dancer has to act like a psychiatrist and listen to people’s problems. No matter what, you will get paid but you have to be able to find those customers who will pay – and then convince them that you are exactly what they need.

Dancers have to be as concerned with how they dress as any woman who works in an office. You also have to be as confident as a CEO or a model on the runway. The clothes may be different, but what you wear can have a huge effect on what kind of money you can make. Dancers who overdress or who accessorize the wrong way will find that they do not make as much money. It takes time to build a persona and a clientele and it is as challenging for dancers as branding a new company is for a business owner. There is a great deal of stress that can go along with dancing in trying to make sure that you stand out from all the other dancers who are after the same customers.
Just like many other jobs, dancers have business expenses. Not only does a dancer have to buy clothing, makeup, and accessories for a dance, but you may also find that you have to pay more than you expected. You may have to share your tips with the others who work in the club and you have to pay a fee to dance. The fee is similar to renting a business office or what someone else may spend on going to training seminars.
With the competition involved, needing good social and sales skills, and overhead expenses, it is easy to see why dancing is every bit as real a job as working in a store or owning a business.
